Chiefs vs. Eagles 2013 final score: Andy Reid and Kansas City are 3-0 after 26-16 win

Andy Reid triumphed over his former team on Thursday night, leading the Chiefs to a 26-16 win on the road against the Eagles.
Andy Reid scored a win over his former players as the Kansas City Chiefsimproved to 3-0 on the season with a 26-16 win over the Philadelphia Eagleson Thursday night. The Eagles hurt themselves early and often with turnovers in the first half, and the 10-point halftime deficit gave a struggling Chiefs offense enough cushion to take momentum into the second half and eventually bury the Eagles.
The Eagles helped give the Chiefs a 16-6 lead heading into halftime with four first half turnovers. Michael Vick threw two interceptions, including a pick-six to Eric Berry on a deflected pass. Alex Smith often had good blocking in front of him, but had trouble finding open receivers deep in the Eagles' secondary. Case in point: Dwayne Bowe was held to one catch for four yards for the game.
The Chiefs made their way into the red zone three times in the first half, but came away with three Ryan Succop field goals. Without touchdowns, a potentially insurmountable deficit at intermission was manageable. The Eagles even appeared on the verge of taking advantage at one point in the second half.
The Chiefs extended their lead to 14 points on a 2-yard Jamaal Charles touchdown run to cap an eight-play 62-yard drive. After being held to 14 yards rushing in the first half, Charles finished with 92 yards rushing for the game. He was also one of Smith's most consistent receiving options with seven receptions for 80 yards.
The Eagles responded to the Chiefs' score with an impressive drive of their own, however. Chip Kelly's offense moved 78 yards in five plays and chewed up just 1:21 on the clock when McCoy found the end zone at the end of a 41-yard run. McCoy gave Eagles fans and fantasy owners a serious scare at the end of the first half when he went down in pain with an apparent leg injury, but he returned in the second half and did not appear hampered at all. He had 20 carries for 158 yards and a score for the game.
Momentum appeared to be swinging in favor of the Eagles after Dexter McClusterfumbled the ensuing kickoff to pin the Chiefs on their own 5-yard line. The Chiefs mixed the run and the pass well, however, and were able to move the ball to the Eagles' 20-yard line for yet another Succop field goal. The Chiefs converted two pivotal third downs and ate 8:15 on the clock over the course of the drive's 15 plays to essentially drive a stake in the Eagles.
The Eagles promptly turned the ball over on downs to give the ball back to the Chiefs. The Chiefs took the ball down to the 1-yard line but Charles was denied another score on fourth down. Nonetheless, there were less than two minutes remaining on the clock after the stand. The Eagles took over needing to drive 99 yards for a score, and Vick lost a fumble on a sack to seal the win for Reid and Kansas City.
Fantasy studs and duds
The running backs stole the show in the Philadelphia. LeSean McCoy had 158 yards rushing and a touchdown on 20 carries. Not be outdone, Jamaal Charles had 92 yards and a touchdown on 20 carries, and added 80 yards receiving on seven receptions.
Neither Alex Smith nor Michael Vick had very good days passing. Smith went 22-for-35 for 273 yards, but did not have a touchdown pass. Vick was worse, going 13-for-30 for 201 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions, but he helped fantasy owners with 99 yards rushing.
Donnie Avery had a great day receiving while the Eagles blanketed Dwayne Bowe, catching seven passes for 141 yards. For the Eagles, Jason Avant had five receptions for 87 yards and a touchdown.
McCoy gave fans a scare when he went down with what appeared to be a serious leg injury near the end of the first half. Thankfully, he was able to return in the second half, seemingly 100% healthy.
Chiefs left guard Jeff Allen left the game in the second half with a groin
The Eagles were favored by 3.5 points at kickoff, so they most certainly did not cover the spread.
